The Bible In Voice and Verse

Celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the King James Version.
The King James Authorized Version of the Bible (1611) is one of the treasures of the English language.
It has left its mark on our daily speech in many turns of phrase we use, perhaps without knowing where they come from.
As the handbook for Christian worship and instruction in the English-speaking world for over 300 years,
it has inspired vast amounts of music, in hymns, anthems, spirituals and oratorios.
2011 was the 400th Anniversary of its publication and to mark the event “In Voice and Verse” created a unique presentation.
The concert aims to celebrate the impact of the Bible in words and music.
Lance recites key passages from the Bible interspersed with performances of famous pieces of music which those words inspired,
performed by Belinda and Heather. The music includes excerpts from Haydn's ‘Creation’, Handel's ‘Messiah’ and SS Wesley's
‘Blessed be the God and Father' amongst many others.
Run Time: 2 x 45 minute halves plus interval.
Abridged Version: Approximately 1 hour with no interval.
Projection: During the performance we project song texts along with other images & information.
Versions: Readings can be performed using any version of the Bible
